It was the 38th date of the Ziggy Stardust Tour, which had begun on 29 January. This was also the UK release date for the album The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars.
The Ziggy Stardust Tour visited Torquay’s Rainbow Pavilion on 2 July 1972, and the Town Hall again for two shows on 16 June 1973.
