David Bowie had arrived in Japan on 5 April 1973. The following day he held a press conference at Tokyo’s Imperial Hotel.
Bowie had travelled to Japan from the USA aboard the SS Oronsay, arriving in Yokohama and being driven to Tokyo. His wife Angela and their son Zowie arrived on this day, as did the Spiders From Mars and their entourage.
The 90-minute press conference was held in the hotel’s Fukuno-Ma suite on the hotel’s third floor.
