David Bowie was photographed for the New Musical Express on 16 October 1969.

The NME photographer was Stuart Richman. The shoot took place in and around 39 Manchester Street, London, the home of Bowie’s manager Kenneth Pitt. Other images of Bowie were taken outside the nearby Lincoln Inn, Varners cafe, and on the steps of St James’s Church, Spanish Place.
