Davie Jones and the Lower Third’s eighth performance at Bournemouth’s Pavilion Ballroom took place on Friday 20 August 1965.
It was the band’s – and David Bowie’s – only time sharing a bill with the Who, whose singles ‘I Can’t Explain’ and ‘Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere’ had been hits earlier in 1965. Bowie covered both songs on his 1973 album Pin Ups.
