‘Hammerhead’ is a ‘hidden’ track at the end of Tin Machine’s second album. It was also a b-side of the singles ‘You Belong In Rock N’ Roll’ and ‘One Shot’.

The song was co-written by David Bowie and drummer Hunt Sales. It was one of two such collaborations on the album, the other being ‘Stateside’.

‘You Belong In Rock N’ Roll’ was released as a single on 19 August 1991, ahead of the Tin Machine II. The second CD single contained an edit of ‘You Belong In Rock N’ Roll’, plus ‘Amlapura’ (Indonesian version), ‘Stateside’, and ‘Hammerhead’.

Tin Machine II was released on 2 September 1991. ‘Hammerhead’ was the unlisted final track, in an edited form which just contained the song’s instrumental coda.

In November 1991, ‘One Shot’ was issued as the album’s third single. The b-side was ‘Hammerhead’.

Previous song: ‘Goodbye Mr Ed’
Next album: Black Tie White Noise
