Live: Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, Irvine

David Bowie performed at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine, California, USA, on 13 August 2002, as part of the Heathen Tour.

It was the 20th date of the tour, which began on 29 November at London’s Royal Festival Hall.

Earl Slick was on guitar, Gerry Leonard played guitar and keyboards, and Mark Plati played guitar, bass guitar, and keyboards. Gail Ann Dorsey was on bass guitar, guitar, and backing vocals, and Mike Garson played keyboards. Sterling Campbell was on drums, and Catherine Russell played keyboards and percussion and sang backing vocals.

This show was part of the Area2 Festival, which ran throughout much of July and August 2002 across North America. The headliners were Bowie and festival founder Moby. Also appearing were Busta Rhymes, Blue Man Group, Ash, Carl Cox, John Digweed, Tiësto, DJ Dan, The Avalanches, Dieselboy, and DJ Tim Skinner.
