David Bowie leaves Burnt Ash Junior School

David Bowie – then David Jones – finished at Burnt Ash Junior School in London on 24 June 1958.

He had joined the school on 20 June 1955. His class teacher was Edith Baldry.

For the last day the boys clubbed together to buy a present for Mrs Baldry, which David was nominated to present to her.

David Jones came out with a big parcel all wrapped up in paper and said, ‘This is from all the boys to you.’
